From the competition BBQ circuit, to catering and charity events and, finally, to a brick and mortar restaurant, owners Steve and Jason Blount have been serving their style of Texas inspired BBQ for many years. LocalCraft BBQ was born from a desire to feed people great BBQ, treat them as family, and to make a difference in the lives of their customers and community as a whole.
Steve and Jason were very successful on the BBQ competition circuit when they decided to start catering small events and backyard parties. Soon after, the opportunity arose to help establish Karma Que, a 501c3 charity BBQ organization, to help meet the needs of people in their community. Then Covid hit and the world changed. Both Steve and Jason had the opportunities to leave their jobs and forge a new path that had, until then, just been a dream.
In September of 2021 they found an empty building in the small but growing city of Newark, TX and began a 6 month renovation of the former Venice Pizza location. In March of 2022, LocalCraft BBQ opened its doors for the first time. Since that time it has been growing consistently and steadily.
In November of 2022, LocalCraft BBQ was named Best BBQ in DFW and Best New Restaurant in DFW by the Dallas Morning News.
LocalCraft BBQ focuses on the quality and consistency of the BBQ it serves along with its heavy focus on customer service. When you come for BBQ, you will be treated like family and that is not taken lightly!
